As a bird lover I am also loved by the bird. Every year this time a pair of swallows would come and make a nest under the eaves of our house. Then they would lay eggs and hatch the young ones. Watching them after school often makes me forget to have my meals. Many times my mother went angry with me for this.

Look at the young ones. Five of them crowded in the nest quietly as if only in this way could they get enough warmth. But when their mother comes back with food between the beaks, the young ones would open their mouths as wide as possible and at the same time make voices as loudly as they could, with their wings shaking. You may never imagine how wide their mouths could be opened. At first I often got lost in deep thought. Why would they do so?

Several days later I found there were only four of them that could open their mouths wide. I was puzzled about this so I climbed the ladder and tried to make it clear. Only then did I find that one of them got much smaller than the others. It could hardly get its head up and of course it could not cry loudly. Just at this time their mother came with a worm in the mouth. But to my surprise, their mother put the worm into the wideset mouth. How stupid it was, I thought. It should put the worm into the mouth of the weakest one so that all of them could grow up healthily. But in fact it wouldn’t.

After a hard thinking I seemed to understand. Just like the stupid mother swallow the world of this must be stupid, too. Those who are good at selling themslves often get better chances to express themselves and of course they could easily get out into the world.
